The Academic Biography of S.M. Dubnov

The Academic Biography of S.M. Dubnov

Researcher: Viktor Kelner, Doctor of History, Leading Academic Associate at the Russian National Library (St. Petersburg), Research fellow at the St. Petersburg Judaica Center.

The life and work of S. Dubnov, a scholar, an outstanding historian of the Jewish people, politician and social critic, was so rich in events that its study requires a substantial search and analysis of various and numerous sources. This project is aimed at a thorough examination of Dubnov’s works—articles and memoirs, epistolary heritage of his contemporaries, archival documents that reflect upon the public and political activities of S. Dubnov. In 2005 the project reached the concluding phase: the author is preparing the text for publication.
